Studio Updates & More!

10 Oct

Judy Paul Studios has moved to Smithville, Texas!

As you may have seen on my Instagram or Facebook– I’ve moved to Smithville, Texas! We have been working hard to transform this building into a cool new space to work and live. I am so lucky to be here and use this space to create, experiment, and grow as an artist!

Along with my family of makers, I will be opening up part of my new building (built in the 1800’s and served as Smithville’s Lumberyard until the 1980’s) as a gallery and retail space called Lumberyard Studio at the end of November! Subscribers to my email list will be the notified first of our grand opening party- we hope to see you there!

I still offer local pick-up in Austin and my Smithville studio is currently open by appointment- message me to set up a viewing!

Where to find my work around town:

If you’re in Austin you can always view and purchase select works at Austin Art Garage, as well as Magnolia Cafe on Lake Austin Boulevard and Mai Thai downtown next time you’re out for #brunch.

If you’re in Smithville, you can find my work at Mosaic Art & Home or grab a coffee and check out my pop-up gallery at Smithville General Store. Don’t forget to tag me in your pics and purchases @judypaulstudios!

Whole Foods Commission

27 Jan

Wow, it’s been busy! I’m feeling lucky for the opportunity I had to paint 5 paintings at 36×36″ for the new Whole Foods at the Domain here in Austin. They contacted me in late November and needed them by the opening in early January. It is a busy time of the year to add a project like this but it went smoothly and they are now in place! If you had asked me about how it was going in mid December I wouldn’t have used the word ‘smoothly’. I might have just cried instead. Or screamed. Or maybe both. Anyway, I hoping what didn’t kill me has made me stronger or perhaps a better drinker of Tequila. Here are photos of the results but you really need to go see them in person!

A Bike Ride for Inspiration

23 Jul

There are times when I get up and get started in the studio with no messing around and other times there is lots of messing around. Today I took a bike ride with my new Canon EOS M camera to get juiced up for a day in the studio and I loved it! I want to start every day like this! Here are the photos:

Lady Bird Lake

9 May

Me and Lady Bird Lake are like this! Every big thing that has ever happened to me has been thought of, thought out, shaken off, mulled over and otherwise decided on this lake. So it’s kind of a big deal and serves as an endless source of  inspiration, energy and re-starts. This morning when I got back home from walking around the lake with my camera, I thought I’d try something new and make a collage limiting my choices to just images I shot today. This is what happened:

You can get a print here.

These are a few of the photos I worked from:
